Dr. Thomas C. Maples: A Psychology 4 Hope & Dreams

Dr. Thomas C. Maples, Ph.D., LMFT, is a therapist trained in helping people cope with stressful and incredibly difficult situations. As a Ph.D. graduate of Saybrook University in San Francisco, he is trained in the practice of analytical, clinical, developmental, and spiritually based methods of psychology. Dr. Maples is completely committed to helping people heal in the ways that are best for them.

Dr. Maples practices psychology from an analytical perspective, which is very uncommon. Rather than forcing people to conform to what therapy “should be,” he guides patients along a personal journey at a pace that they’re comfortable with – and he does this by meeting people where they are, both developmentally and emotionally.

Dr. Maples is trained in multiple psychometric tests and uses them in both his clinical and forensic practice. He has worked on Social Security Disability, Franklin Hearing, Mental Health Deferral, and Juvenile capacity to be tried as adult cases.

Witnessing a person make heartfelt changes in their lives and begin to realize their utmost potential is what I love about my job.” [/x_blockquote]

A Healing Vision for Psychology

As a firm believer in dreams. He is known for not only listening to his patients, but hearing and empathizing with what they’re saying. He’s unafraid to think outside the box when it comes to helping his patients heal, which sets him apart from many other therapists in Stockton and elsewhere in California.

He has belonged to the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and is actively involved with the San Joaquin County Bar Association as an MCLE presenter. He has attained the Shodan level black belt in Aikido, actively blogs, creates inspirational videos, and is the creator of A Sacred Journey Podcast, which explores ways we can use our psyche to guide us toward realizing our inner potential.

Dr. Maples thoroughly enjoys his work and has treated a wide range of patients suffering from various psychological symptoms. He prides himself on finding the people behind the issues, and as a result, he’s helped many people develop new perspectives on their self-healing journeys.

Forensic Psychology Practice

In his free time, he actively studies forensic psychology as he is an expert witness in general psychology, mental health, and developmental psychology for the San Joaquin County Superior Court. He has a passion for helping children who have undergone family law difficulties, and is a regular contributor to Maples Family Law blog posts, and continuing education for the San Joaquin County Bar Association. He’s very interested in the areas where psychology and law intersect, especially in areas of juvenile delinquency and mental health effects in areas of criminalistics. You’ll catch him in the gym when he’s not learning or reading the latest case studies to use in his private practice or in the scope of a forensic report.

Dr. Maples’ favorite pastime is traveling to new, exotic lands with his family and watching his children benefit from learning about other cultures, mores, and traditions.
